Madagascar President Hails New Approach to Development
Ravalomanana praises Millennium Challenge Corporation's grassroots approach

Washington – The Millennium Challenge Account offers a “new approach” to development, which empowers people at the grassroots level, Madagascar President Marc Ravalomanana told reporters April 19, one day after his government signed the first ever compact with the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). The compact is worth almost $110 million.

Joining the chief executive officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Paul Applegarth, at a Foreign Press Center briefing, Ravalomanana said he is “very optimistic” that the MCC’s unique approach to development will meet with success in his country.
